Women’s Center and Student Engagement Initiatives

Katie Dalton is the Director of the Women’s Center and Student Engagement Initiatives. Katie received her undergraduate degree in psychology, her master’s degree in higher education administration, and her PhD in higher education administration from ³ÉÈ˿첥 College. Katie’s doctoral research investigated the role that mentors in woman-to-woman mentoring of undergraduate students play in addressing undergraduate women’s declining self-esteem. Katie explored mentors’ motivation for serving as mentors, their level of critical consciousness of undergraduate women’s experiences, and whether they believed they had the power to enact structural change.Ìý

Katie enjoys being active and indulges her competitive side whenever possible. She and her partner Brian can often be found running, skiing, or coaching one of their three children’s sports teams.

Claire Johnson Allen is the associate director of the Women’s Center. Claire received her undergraduate degree in clinical psychology from Tufts University, and her master’s degree in social work from ³ÉÈ˿첥 College. Claire enjoys performing whenever she can and has been a dancer, cellist, and singer for much of her life. She and her husband, a Berklee graduate, can often be found talking in song lyrics and movie quotes, in a ballroom dance lesson, or watching the latest sci-fi/fantasy movie with friends.

Paola Cisneros Lau (she/her), Assistant Director of Education and Training Initiatives, is a proud ³ÉÈ˿첥 College alumna with a Master's from Relay Graduate School of Education. Prior to returning to the Heights, Paola spent eight years working as an educator in diverse communities in New York and Massachusetts, which ignited a profound passion for fostering inclusive environments. This passion is deeply intertwined with ³ÉÈ˿첥 College's Ignatian value of "cura personalis"—care for the whole person—and the reflective practice of the examen, which cultivates awareness of others' experiences. Today, this commitment drives her work at BC, where she develops educational initiatives that build understanding and belonging. Paola resides in Dorchester with her husband, son, and dog, and in her spare moments, she enjoys diving into sci-fi novels and cooking.

Kayla is a 2nd-year in the Lynch School obtaining her master's in higher education, concentrating in student affairs. She is originally from Chesapeake, VA and loves being from the 757. She graduated from James Madison University (GO DUKES!) in 2022 with a bachelor's of science in health sciences and political science. Before coming to BC, she worked as a college adviser with the Virginia College Advising Corps. She joined the Women's Center to continue her passion for helping students find their home through programming and creating safe spaces where it can be hard to find them.

On top of working in the Women's Center, she also is a graduate assistant in Duchesne Hall on Newton campus to assist with programming and supporting residents with their transition into college. In her free time when she is not working or in class, she enjoys listening to music, reading romance books, watching sitcoms and rom-coms, going to sporting events, and exploring ³ÉÈ˿첥!

ÌýNina is the Graduate Assistant for the Sexual Assault Network. She graduated from Florida State University in 2025 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in mental health. Nina plans to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is committed to breaking generational cycles of silence around mental health and intergenerational trauma. Nina is thrilled to be working at the Women’s Center, as sexual assault advocacy is what first sparked her love for social work. Her passion lies in being a strong advocate for others and helping to create spaces where healing, empowerment, and meaningful conversations can thrive. She is especially dedicated to promoting environments where discussions around identity, trauma, and mental wellness are not only welcomed, but encouraged.

In her free time, Nina enjoys attending plays, singing along to her favorite songs, thrifting, and experimenting with new coffee creations!

Tailor is the Graduate Assistant for the Bystander Intervention Education Program. She graduated from Pacific University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. Currently, Tailor is in the process of completing her Master's in English at Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences where she studies children's literature through the lens of environmental humanities. She is a passionate teacher and facilitator, having spent several years working in outdoor education, and is very excited to become a part of the Women's Center Team.

In her free time, Tailor can be found hiking around New England, exploring all her neighborhood has to offer, or immersing herself in a new book.

Victoria is from Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She is majoring in Psychology and minoring in African and African Diaspora studies on the pre-health track. Victoria is deeply passionate about addressing the maternal mortality rates among Black women in the United States. Her lifelong ambition is to establish a birthing center for women of color, creating a nurturing environment where they can feel safe and supported when seeking medical care, especially during pregnancy and childbirth.

On campus, Victoria is a part of the only R&B acapella group, Black Experience in America through Song (BEATS). Additionally, she is a Cura Facilitator and Resident Assistant. Outside of her filled schedule, Victoria enjoys listening to music, reading, and creating new memories with her friends.Ìý

Victoria’s hopes for anyone who walks into the Center is that they are filled with a warmth that leaves them craving more support and accompaniment. She is excited to see all the new and returning faces that will bring the energy and life into the Center.

Makayla is originally from Atlanta, Georgia but now resides in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She is an International Studies and Economics double major with a minor in Finance. Makayla is passionate about social ³ÉÈ˿첥 issues, especially regarding the lack of education many girls around the world experience. In 2024 she started a nonprofit called Shades of Knowledge that works to provide access to resources that enhance students’ learning in schools around the world, including South Africa and Guatemala. Women and girls are the key to deescalating conflict and stabilizing communities but that can only happen if they have the chance to get an education, which is exactly what Makayla hopes to accomplish.

On campus Makayla is a class of 2028 senator on BC's Undergraduate Student Government where she sits on the Academic Affairs Committee. Additionally, she is involved in BC's only R&B acapella group, Black Experience in America Through Song (BEATS), Eaglemunc, a Model UN conference run for high schoolers, and serves as a Cura Facilitator.
In her free time Makayla enjoys listening to music, particularly Afrobeats and R&B, as well as working out. Makayla's hope is that anyone who walks into the Center leaves with a smile on their face and feels a sense of community and comfort.

Mariwa Gambo, MCAS ‘26

Mariwa was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, a borough known for its diverse population and culture. She is an Economics major minoring in Accounting for Finance and Consulting. Because of her experience as a Black woman in healthcare, Mariwa started off undergrad on the pre-med track, with aspirations of becoming an OB/GYN to find solutions for reproductive health disparities within the Black community. Although she realized that being a doctor wasn’t for her, Mariwa still hopes to give back to disadvantaged communities through education, advocacy, and finding a link between her current major and medicine. On campus, Mariwa participates in various Campus Ministry programs, such as Arrupe, Appa, Kairos, and more, also having served as an Orientation Leader her sophomore year. By immersing herself in these experiences, she hopes to truly embody becoming a person for others, and take the lessons learned on campus to make the world a better place. Outside of class, Mariwa enjoys reading, listening to music, social ³ÉÈ˿첥 advocacy, introspection, and laughing with her friends.

Gabrielle (Brielle) Keeley is a student at ³ÉÈ˿첥 College, class of 2027, from Queens, New York, pursuing a double major in Accounting and Sociology on the Pre-Law track. Passionate about social equity and institutional accountability, Gabrielle combines her business education with a deep commitment to ³ÉÈ˿첥 and community formation. On campus, she serves as a RA and staff member at the Women’s Center, where she advocates for gender equity and wellness. She also facilitates reflective dialogue through BC's Cura program and is a student leader for the 2026 Winter Arrupe Immersion Trip to the Philippines, focused on sustainability and environmental ³ÉÈ˿첥. Gabrielle’s work bridges hands-on service and leadership, and she aspires to pursue a career in law or policy where she can continue to uplift underrepresented voices and drive structural change.

Ashley is from Washington Township, NJ, and is majoring in Political Science and Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Environmental Justice and Policy on a pre-law track. She aspires to become a lawyer who focuses on supporting issues regarding the environment and immigration. She is passionate about advocacy for marginalized communities, leadership, and loving others. For these reasons, Ashley is excited to work in the Women's Center and contribute to the community through new friendships and opportunities!

On campus, Ashley serves as an ELP Facilitator, a 48 Hours Council Member, and an Endowed Scholar. In her free time, she enjoys reading, walking, running, thrifting, spending time with friends, or doing anything that involves laughing and talking.

Gabrielle is from New York, and is an Accounting and Sociology major with a minor in Africa and African Diaspora Studies on the pre-law track. She is an RA on upper campus as well as a Cura Facilitator. On campus, she is also involved with the Black Biz Club at BC, and Caribbean Culture Club (CCC).Ìý She is very excited to be working at the Women’s Center as the Center has given her a great sense of belonging and community with other people at BC. Through the Women’s Center, Gabrielle has had the opportunity to participate in the Black Women Matter retreat, and gain some of her deepest relationships through that. When Gabrielle is not doing school or co-curricular work, she is running around Newton, playing badminton at the Plex, visiting the Isabella Gardner Museum or thrifting in the city.Ìý

Liz is originally from Wilmette, IL and is majoring in International Studies and double minoring in French and Design thinking and innovation. With these fields of study, Liz is passionate about understanding social problems from a global context and using strategies from design research to rethink the systems and institutions in society which create inequality. Liz has always been extremely interested in advocacy, mentorship, and service learning programs and is grateful for all the opportunities at BC that have allowed her to continue this work. Working at the Women’s Center, Liz is excited to build community and create resources for other students looking to get involved with the Women’s Center. She first began volunteering with the team for the Women’s Summit and was blown away by all the amazing work they were able to accomplish. On campus, Liz is also a panelist for Student Admissions Program and a member of College Democrats of ³ÉÈ˿첥 College. In her free time, Liz loves cooking, taking spin classes, and hanging out with friends.

Sana is from Charlotte, North Carolina. She is majoring in Political Science and Economics on the Pre-Law track. Sana hopes to pursue a career in law and is driven by her passion for ³ÉÈ˿첥 and policy—especially when it comes to advancing gender rights. She became involved with the Women’s Center out of a deep love for community and a strong passion for women’s issues. Sana is extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve her community through the Women’s Center and raise her voice in advocacy. On campus, Sana serves as a choreographer for BC Masti and holds a position at the Career Center as Peer Career Coach. In her free time, Sana loves to read, listen to music, try new bakeries, volunteer at local non-profits, and explore the city of ³ÉÈ˿첥.

Fairuz was raised in New Rochelle, NY but currently lives in Yonkers, NY. She is an Applied Psychology & Human Development major with a focus in Organizational Studies and Human Capital. With a passion for social ³ÉÈ˿첥 and amplifying student voices on campus, Fairuz’s engagement on campus is driven by her devotion to advocacy and systemic change. After graduating, she hopes to enter sectors like Human Resources or Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to help these spaces become more inclusive and aware. She i She wants to utilize her critical and restorative lens to empower others and to make opportunities equitable and accessible for marginalized communities.
On campus, Fairuz is a member of the Bystander Intervention Lead Team. She is also on the AHANA+ Leadership Council of UGBC where she will serve as the incoming Assistant Director.

During her free time, you can find Fairuz organizing her Pinterest boards, listening to music in the sun, trying new restaurants, or dancing to bachata and reggaetón with her friends.

Katerina Trantzas was raised in Westchester, New York. She is pursuing a double major in Biology and Philosophy with hopes of attending medical school after graduation. She has a passion for women's health, AHANA+ representation, and supporting survivors of sexual assault. In her future career, Katerina hopes to use her studies in medicine and women's health issues to assist in the fight to end the cycle of human trafficking. Through her time volunteering, she recognized the environment of empowerment and belonging at the WC and sought to help foster this environment in the ³ÉÈ˿첥 College community. Outside of the WC, Katerina works to help keep ³ÉÈ˿첥 College a safer campus as an EMT with BCEMS.

When not in class, you can find her studying outside on the grass, or playing intramural tennis with her friends.

·ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Marissa is from Thomaston, Connecticut, and is majoring in Applied Psychology, Human Development, and Theology. She hopes to pursue a career in social work and/or prison chaplaincy and is passionate about the intersection of faith and social ³ÉÈ˿첥. On campus, Marissa is involved in Prison Arts Outreach as the president, BC Bigs as a family leader, Campus Ministry Retreats as a councilmember, Appa as a student leader, Chi Alpha, and works at the Brock House. One of her most transformative experiences at BC (aside from working at the lovely WC) was participating in Arrupe, and she could not recommend it more!
Outside of BC, Marissa holds an Associate's Degree in Legal Studies and is a certified paralegal. She has four little sisters she loves more than anything, and is proud of being from the boondocks.

When she is not adding things to her Google Calendar (that she obeys religiously), you could find Marissa playing pick-up basketball, reading, hiking, participating in intramural sports, or going on a res-walk with a friend. Marissa loves working at the Women’s Center and learning from all the beautiful people there!

Caroline was raised in Houston, Texas and Dubai, UAE. She is majoring in Psychology on a pre-health track. She first got involved in the Women’s Center in the fall of her freshman year as a regular DISH attendee and Free, Period. volunteer. She has felt incredibly empowered in the space and hopes to help others find a sense of belonging too. She is passionate about environmental ³ÉÈ˿첥 and hopes to apply her love for education, connection, and advocacy to a career addressing global health disparities and female empowerment.

On campus, Caroline is involved in BC Dining as a Nutrition Intern, Eagles for Wellness, and Partners in Health Engage. She loves how intersectional all of these activities have been!

When she is not in class, you can find Caroline going for a walk or a picnic, exploring ³ÉÈ˿첥, dancing or doing Pilates, or having a movie night
