Athenia Vinch
Art History
"The Department of Art, Art History, and Film is proud to present the Marianna Martin Award in Art History鈥攏amed in honor of one of our esteemed founders鈥攖o Athena Vinch. Throughout her undergraduate career, Athena has distinguished herself with rare intellectual breadth and depth, completing dual majors in Art History and Political Science, a minor in Classics, and a semester abroad at the University of Glasgow. Athena鈥檚 work exemplifies the highest ideals of humanistic scholarship. She approaches the study of art history with both rigor and imagination, consistently producing original, beautifully argued, and immaculately researched papers. Her writing displays a clarity and elegance that reflect her thoughtful engagement with complex material. Whether analyzing Ribera鈥檚 Saint Onophrius in the Museum of Fine Arts, exploring the construction of Christian identity in Anglo-Saxon Northumbria through the art of Wearmouth-Jarrow, or examining the visionary urban planning of the Constructivist movement in 1920s Russia, Athena combines insight, precision, and a deep sense of historical context. In the classroom, her gracious presence and informed contributions have enriched discussion and elevated the collective learning of her peers. Athena embodies the spirit of the Marianna Martin Award with grace, intellectual integrity, and a deep commitment to the study of art in all its dimensions."

Allison R. Macomber, Jr. Award
This award was established and supported by gifts from the Horbach Fund for outstanding work in the Fine Arts in honor of Allison R. Macomber, Jr., Artist-in-Residence at 成人快播 College.
Nicholas Vye
Studio Art
"The Allison R. Macomber, Jr. Award in Fine Arts was established and supported by gifts from the Horbach Fund for outstanding work in the Fine Arts in honor of Allison R. Macomber, Artist-in-Residence at 成人快播 College. It is with delight that the Studio Art area bestow this honor on Nick Vye. Throughout his 4 years making art at BC, Nick has modelled what it is to be a serious and engaged artist. Curious, passionate, and driven, Nick has never once put anything before his commitment to his studio practice. He has put in the long hours to educate himself about the technical properties of his materials and where his work fits into an art historical trajectory that includes the likes of giants like Robert Smithson and Mary Miss. Additionally, as a student worker for the department, Nick made himself indispensable carrying out the unglamorous behind the scenes work of lugging and organizing supplies. Ever willing to help his fellow students or faculty, Nick鈥檚 generosity and seriousness of purpose was essential to the community building which allowed creativity to flourish in the 2025 Senior Majors Project."

Emma Curran
Art History
"Throughout her four years of studying art history at 成人快播 College, Emma has distinguished herself through her wide-ranging curiosity and penetrating intellect. Whether she was writing about gender relations in the work of Mary Cassatt or the depiction of Native Americans in the US Capitol building, Emma showed a consistent appreciation for the way art history continues to inform contemporary debates. An attentive observer, Emma has drawn on her first-hand experience studying art during her junior year abroad in Italy to write an outstanding thesis on art and patronage in 16th-century Rome. And Emma's commitment to the arts extends well beyond her academic work, motivating her pursuit of many extracurricular projects. Working with the 成人快播 College Arts Council, Emma has helped organize exhibitions at Gallery 203 on campus. Emma has also been an active member of the department's student mentor program, guiding classmates and helping to shape the future of art history at 成人快播 College."
- Prof. Oliver Wunsch
Jeffery Howe Art History Award
This award, established by the 成人快播 College Arts Council in 2011 to honor Professor Howe鈥檚 outstanding service to the Arts at BC, recognizes a 成人快播 College senior who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship in the area of art or architectural history.
Emma Chambers
Art History
"The Department of Art, Art History, and Film is pleased to present the 2025 Jeffery Howe Art History Award to Emma Chambers. Emma has earned universal praise from the art history faculty during her time at 成人快播 College, and embodies Jeff Howe鈥檚 seriousness of scholarship and his delight in the insights that come from the close examination of great art. Among her many scholarly accomplishments at BC is her senior thesis, a sophisticated critical assessment of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Emma鈥檚 project answers longstanding questions about paradoxical elements of the Brotherhood鈥檚 ambitions. How can Britain鈥檚 first modern art movement, avant-garde in so many of its approaches, simultaneously be structured by a backward-looking, seemingly nostalgic aesthetic approach? Drawing confidently on research in history, theology, sociology, and political science, as well as art historical scholarship and unpublished correspondence tracked down in an archive at Oxford's Ashmolean Museum, Emma鈥檚 thesis finds the answer in the overlapping, historically specific influences of youth, politics, and religion. The thesis offers insightful and original interpretations of canonical and little-known material, exemplifying her promise as a scholar."
- Prof. Asher Anderson
Mary Armstrong Award
This award was created in honor of Mary A. Armstrong (1948-2020), who taught painting and drawing at 成人快播 College for thirty years, to recognize a student who has developed an artistic practice of outstanding quality, and who presents the highest level of commitment and personal involvement with his/her work.
Chris Ticas
Studio Art
"The Studio Art Faculty are proud to present one of the Mary Armstrong Awards for outstanding artistry to Chris Ticas. It has been truly rewarding to see Chris grow as an artist and photographer, taking on many technical challenges, in addition to deepening his research and investigation skills via the lens. With an emphasis on documentary photography, Chris has explored the inner workings of local businesses, Fire Departments, and on another level- most sports-ball events during his tenure as a photographer and editor for the Heights here at 成人快播 College. The human condition and the intricacies of the environmental portrait always being a guiding force in his practice. In addition to his prolific photographic bonafides, Chris has been a valued member of the photography lab staff for three years, always quick to help with a print and a reliable set of second-eyes on late nights before big critiques, and seemingly irritable if he had a 鈥渟low shift.鈥 We congratulate Chris on his many achievements, and are excited to see the work to come in the future."
- Prof. Greer Muldowney

Cina He
Studio Art
"It is with great pleasure that the faculty in Studio Art present one of the Mary Armstrong Awards to Xinren (Cina) He. Created in memory of a much beloved painting teacher and colleague who patiently mentored and bolstered generations of art students, it is fitting that this award goes to Cina, a double major in Transformative Educational Studies and Studio Art, who already embodies the care, compassion, and love of subject matter of a great teacher. In her classes Cina distinguishes herself as an empathetic viewer who extends herself and draws from a wide range of interests including continental philosophy, eco-feminism, biology, and Eastern spirituality to make her own artwork and to connect and collaborate with others. Outside of the classroom, Cina has been an open-hearted and generous contributor to many, many arts initiatives on campus including curating a show at Gallery 203, modeling in the student fashion show, and volunteering at the McMullen Museum and the Arts Festival. A recipient of an Advanced Study Grant and Jaques Salmanowitz Program funding, Cina traveled to Guangxi, China where she studied traditional printmaking and created a thought-provoking short film on Intangible Cultural Heritage. Congratulations, Cina! You will be missed, but your positive impact on 成人快播 College will remain."

Cole Sauder
Studio Art
"The Studio Art faculty is proud to recognize Cole Sauder who is a recipient of the 2025 Arts Council Award recognizing his leadership and service to the arts at 成人快播 College. Cole鈥檚 work explores the intersection of utility, design, and craft鈥 honoring traditions of labor, sustainability, and collaboration rooted in the community where he grew up. Cole鈥檚 leadership extends far beyond the classroom. From hand-carving an Alaia surfboard out of Paulownia wood to creating functional sculptures with water pumps and LED lighting, he has been instrumental in fostering dialogue and collaboration between art and engineering students in the Hatchery Makerspace. His internship with furniture design company USM Haller led to a unique partnership that demonstrates how artists can shape conversations around industry, design, and sustainability. Cole is known for his remarkable work ethic, curiosity, and infectious sense of humor. One of his most impactful contributions was transforming the basement of Connolly Carriage House into a fully operational studio.
